Hello,

yes, there is a way to save and restore ipchains-rules.

It's described in the IMHO really good HOWTO (under SuSE at
      /usr/doc/packages/ipchains/HOWTO.txt)

There should be some scripts, called ipchains-save and ipchains-restore.
