safety issue exists with a power cord supplied by Longwell Electronics
Inc.. This cord was shipped with Deskjet 800 and 900 series printers

printers shipped in the U.S. and Canada between April 1, 2001 and
January 31, 2002. If misused, the cord could create an electrical

What began as a useful set of language shortcuts has become a
neverending sea of confusing letter combinations that can drive even
the best of us temporarily insane. When we hear discussions of a new
technology or enter the populace of an unfamiliar subculture such
as a new workplace, the rampant use of acronyms can make us feel
like imbeciles.

To set the record straight, an acronym is an abbreviation that's
pronounced like a word, such as "LAN" or "WYSIWYG." Acronyms are often
confused with terms like "ISP" or "PC," which are simply abbreviations
that are read as letters rather than words.

To add to the confusion, both acronyms and abbreviations are often
recycled among subcultures, causing a frenzy of miscommunication. SAP,
for example, could refer to an international software company, a
secondary audio program, or a service advertising protocol--among
other things. Help!

One way to keep all the letter combinations straight (and to prevent
you from pulling out ALL your hair) is to use online encyclopedias and
dictionaries. Spare yourself the pain of not knowing and check out
